Arts and Crafts

Art is an important part of everyone’s life, we see images, icons, photos, statues, buildings and video around us all the time. We dont have to be the next Picasso to not only enjoy art but get a benefit from it.

Art can take many forms and all of them allow us to express our thoughts and create a unique piece of artwork that can help us to develop many different skills. Below are some of the art based workshops that I offer, if there is something else that you are looking to run please get in contact and we can see what can be done.

Needle Felting

Needle felting uses a long, thin needle which has a series of notches at its tip. When you poke this needle into and out of the wool, these notches tangle the fibres of the wool together, and as you felt, the wool will start to feel firmer, and will shrink in size. During this sessions Participants will create a small felted sculpture or pendant. Theme will depend on the group taking part and what has been requested.

Wet Felting

Wet felting is the process of using a combination of friction/agitation, soap and water to make felt out of wool fibres. The hot water and soap changes the pH of the wool and allows the scales on the fibres to open up. Particpants can make a small canvas piece with either an abstract image or a themes image, or a small 3D vessel. This workshop involves soapy water so can be a bit wet.
